Our Vision
The Harrow Safeguarding Adults Board is dedicated to safeguarding adults with care and support needs, following the Harrow “Think Whole Family” approach to safeguarding.
What is the purpose and the main functions of HSAB?
The primary purpose of a SAB is to help and safeguard adults who have care and support needs. To achieve this, the Board:
- Collaborates with partners to ensure that local safeguarding arrangements are established as defined by the Care Act 2014.
- Ensures that safeguarding practices are person-centred and outcome focused.
- Guarantees that agencies and individuals provide timely and proportionate responses when abuse or neglect occur and can demonstrate the work being done to prevent abuse or neglect where possible.
- Continuously improves safeguarding practices to enhance the quality of life for adults in its area.
What are the Six Safeguarding Principles?
- Empowerment: People being supported and encouraged to make their own decisions and give informed consent
- Prevention: It is better to take action before harm occurs
- Proportionality: The least intrusive response appropriate to the risk presented
- Protection: Support and representation for those in greatest need
- Partnership: Local solutions through services working with their communities – communities have a part to play in preventing, detecting and reporting neglect and abuse.
- Accountability and transparency in safeguarding practice
The Harrow Safeguarding Adults Board was established in November 2023 to provide strategic leadership for all safeguarding efforts across the Borough.
The Board is led by the Independent Chair Lesley Hutchinson.
